Work is part of an artwork project entitled The Wrinkles of The City currently being unveiled at various locations around LA and part of MOCA’s upcoming exhibition Art in the Streets (3) Little orchids finally in bloom after months of worrying that they wouldn't (4) Lunch with artist Laure Briard, I wrote about her a few years ago *HERE* and I had the amazing privilege of meeting her for the first time this last month. We ate at Shabu Shabu in Little Tokyo where we had to cook our meal in a pot of boiling water... Fun! (5) Cute graffiti spotted on a broken and boarded up window on the way home last week (6) The first spotting of summer fruit at our favorite farmers market (7) Little Buddha found at the Plum Blossom shop in Chinatown. Isn't he adorable? (8) Sleeping hamster photo taken at a pet shop a few weeks ago when I went to buy fat George his food (9) American Apparel factory and their show of solidarity toward immigrants and their plight.

Turning Two...

This week Ada turned two. Two years of traveling the world, visiting beautiful and often famous places. Eating the most exotic foods (ok not really, but let's pretend). Photographed countless times, in the homes of strangers (now dear friends) and some really rather famous landmarks. Ada, who was here with me this last summer, may not be alive by conventional standards, but I can tell you from personal experience that she brings life with her upon visit... the thrill of seeing her in person for the first time, and the challenge of taking her boldly out in public to photograph. Fun! So this post of favorite photos I borrowed from Ada's blog and facebook, is a way of saying Happy Anniversary to Ada and Thank You to Adeline for starting this project. Chloé of Paris

About 6 years ago Chloé and I became MySpace friends. She was the first girl I'd ever met who liked so many of the same things that my sis and I loved and grew up on. Seemingly frivolous things, like films and books and music. Things that, despite of how shallow it may sound, seem to have become a big part of what we call likes in life. It's clear now that there's a whole army of us, but at the time my friend Chloé was (and still is now really) mind boggling to me. She’s also the reason I started to blog. She started hers over a year before I started doing the same, wasn't completely biting... though guess maybe I was? She sort of kept telling me to start one, and when Chloé tells you do something you can’t help but think it's a good idea. Above+below, photos of the it girl and her adorable CANCAN. ♥




Also, photos and a video from her current project as coordinator and producer of Cabaret and Burlesque Revues. Many are in Paris but they are also held in various other cities. Would LOVE to attend one... gorgeous and glamorous, very Chloé like!

Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.

This week my friend Adeline included me in her Photographic Diaries project. She has an amazing and seemingly effortless way of organizing some truly unique and cool projects (ie: Ada the Globe Trotting Doll and The Talking Trees). The photographic diaries required only 4 things... An answer to the hard question of why do you photograph? A self portrait, a photo which expresses a love and lastly a photo of details in your life. Easy to the normal person, but not so much to the slightly obsessive compulsive like me! Be sure to stop by Adeline's Lady Croissant Blog *HERE* to see my submission. Shadows of the week

First we eat, then we'll go swimming...













Submissions: (1) From the garden, but again not sure of kind? (2) Pinkberry pomegranate yogurt with mango and cheesecake topping. Cold desserts on a hot day! (3) White raspberries at the City Hall Farmers Market. Favorite place to have lunch on a Thursday (4) One of the reasons are the free fruit samples (5) Almond jelly with fruit cocktail and my friend Scott in the background. Love how he tucks his tie in when he eats (6) Dusky view from the front porch (7+8) Night swimming after a very hot day. Over 100°F/38°C, but I missed summer (9) I-Zone photo circa 1999 of my friend Lisette, BEST friend Natasha and me. We were huge fans of those tiny Polaroids. Yesterday was Natasha's birthday and today there's a small bbq to celebrate. Promise photos of that next Sunday!

On the subject of friends...

Ada arrived early this month and stayed with us a little over a week.



In red (my favorite color) and holding her pet rabbit we got busy having fun exploring Los Angeles and Santa Monica together... above, standing by the Los Angeles Civic Center fountain. Do you remember it from the film 500 Days of Summer? How about from *THIS* short short scene in Pretty Woman? It's sadly in the middle of being torn down now to make way for a new shopping and dinning project, but we were happy we got one last snapshot in before they closed it off to the public.

At the top of Elysian Park overlooking some of Dodger Stadium and the Downtown Skyline. Felt bad about the gloom of the marine layer that hung heavy that week, but in retrospect think it was befitting of the mood since I knew she'd be leaving soon.
