Not whining,
but it's been a crazy month
Saturday, February 27, 2010
Mostly because of work and my allergies taking on the new symptom of migraines (that made it sort of impossible to read, much less write). But despite the obvious bad I've had a nice month and even managed to photograph some of it...
Above is my pink polka-dot hypoestes, a $3 steal from one of my favorite Little Tokyo shops, Kahlen Flowers.
Photograph I found on a recent trip to the Pomona Collector's Street Fare, a small event they have once every two months (next one is on March 27th). It's slightly damaged and there's no markings or date on the photo, but am enamored with how very expressive and happy they are. Wonder if they were newlyweds?
'Roses are red, violets are blue, Marmite you're brown... & I love you.'
New to me and introduced by my brother's girlfriend, thank you Amy!
I can't cook, my sister Anna cooks, but I make a mean soft scrambled egg. Above are my world famous soft scrambled eggs with feta cheese, chives and mushrooms on sourdough toast. I swear, it's the only thing I make that gets any love around here.
Lastly, this little guy joined us at lunch the other day. I've never seen a bolder little bird... he kept looking back and forth between my lunch partner and I as if he were part of the conversation and was even kind enough to let me photograph him.
♥♥♥♥
Thank you to everyone who emailed and left sweet supportive comments while I was away. They really did make a difference! Lots of kisses and wishes for a great new month.

Great to have you back Gabbi! I miss you. Love those detail shots. xoxo
Aww Gabbi! Migraines are totally the worst. The only thing you're good for is sleeping in a darkened room with a cold cloth over your face :( I hope you're on the mend and getting your energy back. I've missed your blog presence. And when we meet, you can cook me those scrambled eggs anytime!
So lovely to "see" you back Gabbi sweetie! I kept visiting in the vain hope....! Love your updates here - you really are a master photographer!! Is that little bird a sparrow? I think he's taken a shine to you! Love to you and that fluffy boy George! XOXO's
Hi Gabbi,
Glad you are back and had a good month despite your migraines. I love the photos you have shared. The marmite makes me laugh. Is your brother's girlfriend English? It is advertised here on the basis of you either hate it or you love it. It must be one of the few products where the producers openly play on the fact that people don't like it. Your scrambled egg looks good. I am not a very good cook either but I can make a delicious cheese omelettte!
The sparrow is my favourite though-so cute!
Hope you are feeling better. Cute little flower, I want one.
Missed you Gabbi! Sorry to hear about the migraines, they suck. Love your photos, although I have to say I hate Marmite!
Heyyy, me tenías en ascuas. Qué bueno volver a leerte y saber que estás bien,
besos
mmm, those scrambled eggs look gorgeous, i must try this out. i really love the top pic.
Yay! You're back. I'm so glad you're feeling better. The photos are wonderful, especially that last one of the little bird.
hope your poor head is feeling better gabbi.
missed your sweet posts.

Missed you very much I hate to hear you had some issues with migraines..they are no fun at all. I used to get them all the time..rotten, and light is not your friend whilst suffering.
I am glad you're back. I love your photos..that little birdie is oh so cute.
Yay, Gabbi is back! I'm so sorry to hear about your allergy migraines. I've been having some horrendous allergy related headaches too, worse than any I've ever had. Hope we're both over them soon, they make working on the computer for any length of time almost unbearable.
I love these photos. The couple in the vintage pic are so sweet and mischievous looking. They appear to share a little secret. Love the bold little bird, he's adorable. I can't make an omelette, but like you I make the best scrambled eggs. I call them "dirty" eggs because I throw in whatever cheese and veggies I have handy.
this is such a sweet post =]
yay you´re back!!!
how cute the little bird was :)
take care!
Gabbi! Yay! I'm so happy to see that you are back to blogging.

i'm so glad you're back! yay! i'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. my allergies are starting too and last year i started developing migraines (weird, right? after i hit my head...huh). anyway, i feel your pain, quite literally.
xoxoxoxo
Lovely pictures! I'm so glad you're back, Gabbi! I have migraines on occasion as well, and I know that staring at a computer screen is pretty awful in that situation - so it's completely understandable. :) But I did miss your posts!
I can't cook at all! Those scrambled eggs sound so good right now..
Get well soon tocaya!
Take care linda
Glad to have you back!

THOSE EGGS?!?! how i want them right now!!! they look delicious!
and the bird pic/story are cracking me up. a friend of mine had a cat that would watch everyone talk. he would swivel his head to the speaker, and it was like he was part of the conversation, just like your little birdie friend. so cute!

Gah! I LOVE that photo! They look as though they are saying a million things, though they're barely touching, and not looking at each other! What a wonderful relationship they must have had - they look so full of love and joy :)
this fair sounds fun, maybe B and I can get a look. love these pics, I love that pink and green plant with the hand model! I have always dreamed of a dress with that print.
Un abrazo,
L
