LEARN TO SKIP

Sunday, January 17, 2010

At the risk of sounding like a very shallow person, I need to share with you the extreme joy I get out of discovering something small and seemingly unimportant that I really like or enjoy... like this short little video by uk based director and photographer Pavla Kopecna. The film title is 'Learn to Skip' and it features the also uk based SkipTheatre performers. The largest part of the soundtrack is 'Rip it up' by the late 70's early 80's Scottish post-punk band Orange Juice. Such happiness to be had in a 5 minute video I tell you, click play and start skipping in 10 easy steps...

This is just adorable! It makes me happy too. :) It also makes me want to skip rope! I was so into that as a kid. It's good exercise, too.. oh yes, new goal! (Ha, thanks for the inspiration!)

This is so much fun, Gabbi! It kind of makes me feel like a kid, or encourages me to do simple things that bring joy - like Hopscotch. I love the music. My husband is a total music guy, so when I asked him if he'd ever heard Orange Juice, he said "of course, James Kirk was the lead singer" (we listened to one of his solo albums nonstop for about a month). I need more Orange Juice and "skipping"in my life!

That video was kind of relaxing...I feel good. :)

Ya know-I did fitness kickboxing a few times, and they had us jump rope for like 10 minutes straight before each workout-I thought I would die. It's a SUPER workout tool! :)

rip it up, great tune. reminds me of a mixed tape someone did for me when i was a teenager. some people say theres a message in evey song, that its like sending someone poetry - i just think its a sweet thing to do for someone. anyway one mix ended with 'are you experienced' by hendrix - did make me blush at the time.
