On the subject of horror

Without giving away too much... Repulsion (1965), directed by Roman Polanski and staring Catherine Deneuve, is one of my most loved in scary films. Not very typical, but definitely frightening. In it Polanski does a terrifying and subtle job of capturing the slow and scary descent by a young woman into insanity. The horrors are not external threats, but rather the horror that lies within the mind of the protagonist.
Recommended and can viewed in it's entirety (though in parts) *HERE*.♥

When I see my self in the mirror I see Catherine Deneuve...then I woke up from my dream, Dang*!!!
Always enjoy your wonderful finds Gabbi! xo*
I adore these posts of yours....I totally want to see that film!
oh I love these posts!!! :) Hope you are having a great day Gabbi!!
This sounds interesting. I would like to see it. It is weird,(coincidentally-insanity/horror)- yesterday I was reading a bit of Jane Eyre-the part where Mr Rochester is talking about his wife and his realization that she was insane. I have not read it for years and it struck me this time how much of a horror story it is in this part-for him and for her.
Just my kind of horror! No bloody monsters:) I like psychological drama much better. Wonderful inspirations, I'm finding a lot of it from her hair...but that's totally off topic.
Oh wow...sounds like a great flick. I love psychological horrors, they do tend to be the scariest imo.
What beautiful etsy choices. I love vintage nighties.
It seems like a real horror flick based on the images. And I love your etsy finds.
Wonderful post!! Repulsion! We have that on DVD. My boyfriend is a huge Polanski fan and is slowly collecting all his films when he sees them. Catherine is a vision in this film - Polanski is very good at horrow I think - Rosemarry's Baby is another great one to hide behind the couch for!
Have a lovely weekend Gabbi sweetie!! (and to George too of course!) XOXO P.S. So glad your comp is up and running again - now mine is going bananas : phooeey! Hopefully it will get fixed soon touch wood whistle!
Una película que todavía no he visto! La buscaré, que ahora que ha llegado el frío, apetece un montón ver películas en el sofá!!

Hey Gabbi. I love this film. It's one of the first things I ever saw Catherine in. I haven't seen it in years though. Great post you did on it.
I've never seen this (there seems to be a lot of films I haven't seen!), but I really like these screenshots. Great finds too! :)
Waw!
I hope I can watch it

I've seen the first few minutes - I really should watch the entire film.
Love the phone we used to have one in cream.
seems like a good movie ! have to check it . haha . oh and another great etsy finds ! :D
The stills and your set have completely piqued my interest. I love old black and white films - especially horror ones. Perhaps renting this to watch on Halloween would be a good idea. :)
So fabulous post ! I love Catherine Deneuve !
I haven't seen that Polanski movie in ages... you're inspired me to rewatch it! And love your Etsy finds... that pastel chiffon number is gorgeous!

Love this! you don't just bring us a review of this, you invite us to almost be a part of it. I'm such a sucker for old horror films and this looks so chic at the same time.
Repulsion is a great flick. Catherine Deneuve is so great in this role. Your Repulsion etsy finds are amazing! You've really captured the feel of the movie.
I just remembered that you asked me in a comment last week what horror movies I had been watching. I watched "Drag me to Hell" the same weekend that you did, plus "The Signal" (pretty good, has an indie feel), then "The Woods" (erie, not too much gore), and Zombieland (so funny!).
Love this film!!
Dear Gabbi!
I've never seen this film! I like watching scary movies so i'll definitely keep this one in mind when i'm in the gettingscary mood ;)

A very disturbing film and difficult to watch. That's partly what makes a great film though! And Polanski is a master filmmaker! While I'm glad I've seen Repulsion I don't think I'm up to sitting through it again!
Great related finds!
Ooh, I've never heard of this one, but it sounds great!! I think my Halloween plans mostly involve watching scary movies all day... :)
ooh sounds chilling! i'll keep my eye out for it :)
the horror within is the worst kind, no? how do you escape yourself?
