From ‘Une femme est une femme’ (A Woman is a Woman)
by director Jean-Luc Godard (1961):

Godard's first film in color and made as his tribute to American musical comedies, which might explain all the red, white and blue we see in the film...

'Featuring French superstars Anna Karina, Jean-Paul Belmondo, and Jean-Claude Brialy at their peak of popularity. The film tells the story of exotic dancer Angéla (Karina) as she attempts to have a child with her unwilling lover Émile (Brialy). In the process, she finds herself torn between him and his best friend Alfred (Belmondo). A dizzying compendium of color, humor, and the music of renowned composer Michel Legrand, A Woman Is a Woman finds the young Godard at his warmest and most accessible, reveling in and scrutinizing the mechanics of his great obsession: the cinema'. -Stolen from Criterion

(Below) One of the musical scenes from the film, no subtitles (sorry!) but the song and style is terribly smart… loud music quiet vocals.

I haven't seen this movie, but I adored Anna Karina in Pierrot Le Fou. She's just divine.

I love Anna Karina!
I have had this movie recommended by me so many times by friends, I have yet to watch it but the way you post about it is more of a push!

That movie looks gorgeous!

Wow - she really knows how to play to the camera and what a great set of character actors in the same scene.

PS - were you ever an Adam and The Ants fan. Marco and Chris from Ants have got a band going The Wolfmen, their new single is a duet with Sinead O Connor remixed by Courtney Taylor Taylor of the Dandy Warhols - there's even talk of it being a Christmas single why not swing by here and see what you think..

thanks for featuring one of my bags on your blog. the one with the kiss is an image from "pierrot le fou", I did another with images from "vivre sa vie" on it, but I put "une femme est une femme" on it to confuse people.

anyway, glad you like the bag!
