Brujas, musique y dulces

My sister owns a dinosaur. Actually it’s a parrot, but she’s a little bit frightening and there's something prehistoric to her. Her name is Bruja (‘Witch’ in Spanish), she likes to dance and will only let my sister touch and hold her. For some reason she doesn't really like our mom, flies at her hair whenever she visits. She loves to eat corn tortillas and to be carried by my sis on her shoulder like a pirate. She also does a killer car alarm impression. Below is a photo of Bruja attempting to murder my camera… not a fan of photographs.
Also ‘Boat Behind’ the new video and single off of the Kings of Convenience latest album, Declaration Of Dependence, set to be released on October 20th. Can't hardly wait!
Lastly, Coconut-Stuffed Lemons. One of my most favorite of sweets:
THINGS YOU’LL NEED
12 lemons
2 cups of shredded sweetened coconut
1 ½ cups of sugar
-green food coloring
DIRECTIONS
(1) Scrape zest of lemons until almost all is gone. (2) Boil for 10 minutes, remove from water and cut a thin slice off the top and slice almost all the way through. (3) Remove all pulp and submerge in water with food coloring, boil for another 10 minutes. (4) Mix coconut and 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup of water, cook on low heat until coconut is soft and syrupy. (5) Fill lemons with coconut mixture. Serve warm or cool in fridge first, but I prefer cool. ♥

Look at that beautiful gal!! Talk about a personality!! Hopefully your camera survived to live another day! Has George met young Brujas? Hmmmm...!!
Will check out the vid when I get home ce soir - and love the look of those superb sweet treats - they look quite summery so I may well give them a go!! Another fun packed post sweetie!!
that there birdie is GORGEOUS! but birds kind of terrify my, so i am glad for the photographic introduction vs. meeting said birdie in person!

and give george a hug for me and tell him to be kind to your furniture. or else. :)
She is very beautiful. She does seem like she could also be quite frightening. Great photos.
OH WOW! A dinosaur haha!! I have to admit I am a bit afraid of birds but she is gorgeous.
Yummm...I have to try that recipe!
This is such a pretty post! You are INCREDIBLE Gabbi!
Bruja sounds very entertaining...not that trying to kill your camera is entertaining! ;) That treat is mouth watering Gabbi!
xo*
Bruja is very cute. Very colorful..wow. I always find it so amazing the sounds that parrots can imitate. It seems it would get annoying for certain sounds. I LOVE Kings of Convenience..I will have to come back and watch this vid as I'm out the door.
A parrot named Bruja? Haha that is priceless! I especially love the photo of Bruja that looks like she is about to attack you.
I have on big question going through my mind right now: WHY do I not know about lemons with coconut???!
I LOVE both and it sounds so incredibly delicious. I cannot wait to try it myself.
Thank you Gabbi for that. I hope you are enjoying your week!
Bruja is beautiful, her colors are gorgeous! How does the kittie get along with her? I hope they love each other...or at least like one another... :)
Gabbi!! I will have to give this recipe a try! They look not only delicious, but stunning, and now I am drooling :) yummmmy!!
Have a fabulous evening!
The bird scares me - I bet it would fly at my hair too!
Me encanta como empieza la historia, deberías convertirla en un relato corto. En nuestro caso las brujas son...¡las hijas adolescentes de nuestro presidente!
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about how much I want a bird. A parrot would be perfect!
Wow that parrot's a beauty - but I do find birds flapping around a house a bit spooky! Love the Kings Of Convenience track - have you checked out Mockingbird Wish Me Luck for more polite Scandanavian pop.
Lemons and coconut - who'da thought it 'mazing
Bruja looks like quite a character! Coconut-stuffed lemons? Hmmm. I'm very tempted to try making these because I like how easy peasy the recipe sounds!
omg you areright... it kinda does look like a dino. but things always don't look the way that you want them to.
ooh..this madame is so cute...nice bright colours...
hmm..interesting sweet..is it mexican huh?...hmm...maybe i should give it a try too.. :)

Ah parrot! So cute.
Oh, I've just fallen in love with Bruja. She's quite pretty. Actually, your story about her reminds me of those Fudge books by Judy Blume. Didn't they have a bird that would mimic everything they said? Oh, I used to adore him! :)
Hehe, the parrot is very cool! Your recipe sounds great, I want to give it a shot, since I love coconut!
oh wow, i would be scared of that bird!
i love your recipe!
the parrot is fab!
love her colours!
take care!
xoxo
your sister's bruja is muy bonita. i was attacked by a parrot once, i'm not kidding. it bit off a chunk of my toenail. OUCH!
love kings of convenience btw.
Beautiful parrot, though she does sound a little scary!! :) That's so cute that she likes to sit on your sister's shoulder.
Oh, I want to try those lemons!
how funny! large birds scare me very much!
Poor parrot. So, it is kind of insane. :) But it is so pretty. :)
Wow! Nice shots!
parrots have great personalities though they can be a bit overwhelming sometimes!
That sounds incredibly delicious! And a what a pretty pretty bird. : )
Coconut stuffed limes? Wait, what part do you eat? The coconut? Very interesting...
