Don't forget to put on your glasses!
Have you ever tried making a 3-D photo?
Today I tried to make my own using a photo generator (Link is *HERE*) and my little Kewpie (shown above) as the first model. The generator's fun to use but a bit complicated in that it requires two almost identical photos (the left and right view) in order to create a 3-D imagine. The tip is to move the camera from the left eye (for the 1st photo) to the right eye (for the 2nd photo) when you take the two shots (a 2 inch difference).
Below is an old photo of my sister Anna and me (I'm the most enthusiastic of the two), I used it in my 2nd experiment.
Cute short, ca 1935, explains how 3-D Works. At 2:30 the blue and red kicks in (would love to see this in a theater!):
‘3-D Nude’ Book (with glasses) courtesy of Mythologie des Lucioles:
‘3-D photographer’ also from Mythologie des Lucioles:
‘Foire’ by PillPat:
For non-fan's of Generators the Coronet 3-D, manufactured in England ca.1954, can be found on Ebay *HERE*. I looked and looked for samples of what the photographs looked like but couldn't find any? If you find or have please share!
♥Wishing you a great Sunday♥

Hi Gabbi! Such a fun post!!! I love the 3-D photographer...but I think I need the glasses...it still looks really cool though without them. Longest.Sentence. Ever! :)
Happy Sunday love!
Wowsers Gabbi!! Talk about a super retro cool post! :) I want to run out now and get me some glasses so I can look at your kewpie doll and that sweet photo of you and your sis in all their 3D glory! As for the short - what a gem!! I love the steam driven sense of humour he has: the member of the benevolent order of barflies and Miss Umloif! My favourite bit was the bit following the car over the Washingtin bridge! A thousand thank yous sweetie - that post was a real treat! XXXXX -> to you and George and little Blas!
WOW! another fantastic post! i definitely want to try this now :) you are such a creative girl, i love it!
i hope you're having a wonderful, relaxing sunday!
<3
It's so fascinating...even without the 3d glasses...The colors are quite beautiful- as long as we don't look too long, or else feel a little tipsy!hee* Enjoy your Sunday Gabbi!
xo*
What a cool idea, darling Gabbi! I am now on the hunt for some 3-D glasses so I can properly appreciate the awesomeness of this post!
xoxox,

What a cool post! Your research is always so through and well rounded.
nice.. i'm glad you posted this up.
always a pleasure to get this kind of info.
love the photos too!
especially drawn by the last camera pic.
This post rocks! So fun. You're brilliant.
I love this! I'm particularly in love with the fact that your posts are so original. It's an inspiration!
I need to go get my 3-D glasses and look over this post again. Thank you for posting up the link to the generator.
This is so cool! Thanks for sharing, Gabbi.
The photo of you and your sister (I like her name, hehe) is adorable.
have a wonderful week
xx
Haha, these are fun. I'm really glad to have a pair of 3D glasses from a really old magazine hanging around.
I know I have a pair of 3D glasses somewhere so I'll have to find them and then come back for another look at your photos! They look great as they are anyway! The one of you and your sister is so cute! I'm drooling over that Coronet 3-D camera! I want! I want! I want! I quickly googled the film it uses to see if it's still available. And it is! A couple of specialty stores sell it. Prices weren't listed though. So I imagine it's very expensive, but how fun it would be to play with! Like you, I would be keen to see some pics taken with it.
Hey thanks so much Gabbi for putting the SSS badge on your amazing blog! I have my fingers crossed you'll stumble upon some shadows this week! I'd LOVE for you to play along!!! That would be super cool! :)
These are so fun!
wow..i didn't know about this programe..i'll try it...
the first pic looks cool and kinda scary..
love the retro pics and thanks for the infos about the camera...
have a great week!!!
=D
woah! awesome post! i always was curious about that!
How fun! Haha, I *did* put on 3d glasses to look at this. :) Luckily we just bought the Coraline dvd which came with glasses for the 3d version!
how fun! Gabbi you always have the neatest posts. If there were any "oscars" for blogs you would be my nominee. have a great monday.
xoxo to you and George
i had no idea you could make your own photographs 3-d. pretty cool stuff. the pic of you and your sister is too cute.
This is right up my street - I've gotta find my 3D goggles. I'm sure I've mentioned it before Gabbi - but check out Harold Lloyds 3D work - He was one of the first to play around with 3D photography
I think my boyfriend might have a pair of glasses somewhere... I love kewpie dolls :)
ok, looking at these without 3d glasses makes me a bit dizzy but i love the idea of making your own! you did a good job!
I had no idea this could be done!! AWESOME! awww I'm seriously loving the one of you and your sister!!
I have the glasses from when i bought them with the coraline 3d movie. cool photos!
Very cool! Now I just need to go back to the 80s to find that pair of 3D glasses I had that one time! :)
aww man I dont know where my glasses are, groovy pics!
I'm going to have to go see "Up" in 3D and come back with the glasses! So cool.
good morning gabbi! so, 500 Days of Summer: where to begin? when the trailer first came out, i was beyond excited for it. i LOVE joseph gordon-leavitt, he's such a fantastic actor! as it came closer to being released, i started to hear good things about it, but i also heard a lot of disappointed comments about it. eventually, like the preview says, i had to go in knowing it wasn't a love story, it was probably not going to be a happy movie. going in with that mind-set helped me, i think. i did enjoy the movie. i can definitely see how people didn't like it though! but, i think it portrayed break-ups and trying to get over someone, very well. i think that it also gave a lot of insight into relationships, how, very often, one person is more in love or more into the relationship than the other person. so, yes, it wasn't a happy movie, but i felt a lot of truth in it, so i did enjoy it :)
it was definitely not your average love story!
geez! way too cool!!! awww.
xx
yeah, i can totally see what you're saying about it trying too hard to be cutesy in some parts, because it definitely did. yes, JGL is so dreamy :) have you seen Brick??
pura psicodelia...
the 'lookout' was a fantastic movie was well! quite chilling though. i'm excited for the new christopher nolan movie JGL will be in, 'inception'. sounds really interesting, and the cast is chalk-full of great actors! i'm a little obsessed with movies if you haven't noticed hehe
Cool effect! I have poor vision (without glasses or contacts), so I figure I get the same effect sans 3-d glasses if I squint at the screen ;)
Gabbi I have seen the Harold book, but a while ago. It's very much of the time - but worth grabbing as you'll find Betty Page and Marilyn inside (and 3D)
oh my gah, never really thought about 3D shots before! and sadly i couldnt see the final result since i've lost my glasses... but they're truly intriguing. and your blog is so wonderful, by the way, i'm glad i found it! will definitely keep coming. :)
clara <3
whooooaaa this is such a cool concept! my head is kind of spinning....i love the shot of you and your sister! thanks for sharing!
Love this post, so cool!! Yay for 3-d!
Wicked!
3d is cool - I saw the film Coraline in 3d .. it was good!
so cute you and your sister!
hugs
Francesca
