¡Feliz Día de la Madres!

One of my favorite photographs of my mom, it was taken at a park in the 70's here in California. Really damaged and my sister Anna can't be seen at all, but I love the expression on my mother's face. Very happy and pretty don't you think? This weekend's all about her, my brother and I spent most of our Saturday shopping and prepping for her Mother's day Celebration tomorrow. I'm the middle child, I have one older sister (Anna) and a little brother whose actually in his mid-twenties but who I can't help referring to as 'little'. None of us have children yet so every year we make a big to-do for her and try as much as we can to spoil her. It's really hard to spoil her, very low maintenance :) This year we're going out for brunch and maybe to the movies? It all depends on her and what she wants to do. One year her choice was to visit an Aunt of ours in Monrovia, so tomorrow might be spent visiting relatives. It's always nice making a day for her though, really looking forward to it...
While cake shopping for her I spotted this adorable smiley face cake. I find it impossible to eat anything that cute but did buy this small green tea cake for myself. Tiny. Hardly any guilt involved.
I tried to make her gift a variety of things...
This smelled really good and felt nice on the hands.
Do you celebrate Mother's day in May also?

Your mother is very lucky to have a family that so obviously adores her and goes out of their way to make her feel special! Mother's Day was today (Sunday) here in NZ. It was nice spending time with family but not so nice fighting all the crowds at all the restaurants and cafes.
I hope your wee green tea cake was delicious.
isn't it amazing how the photo was damaged in just the places where you can see your mom? (no offense to your sister of course) your mom and her hair!! beautiful!
i hope you have an amazing mother's day!
dear gabbi, sounds like a lovely weekend. Feliz día de las furry madres too! besos for George.
Sounds like your mom will have a great day! :) Very lovely photo! Sometimes when photos get damaged they seem even more charming to me!
that picture is amazing ( i love old family photos). you're mom is getting spoiled w/your very sweet gifts. (i love that turquoise necklace in your etsy shop.).
your mom looks beautiful in that photo! I agree, that damaged photos can actually look more charming. My mom lives in Indonesia, and over there we celebrate mother's day in december... which I guess is a good thing since I usually go home in december :)
I hope you had a wonderful day :)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. That is a beautiful photo of your mother. It's cool that you adore your mother so much. We all honored our mom today with a nice lunch. Take care. Cheers!
Yes.. we celebrate mums on the same day as in America!

Look at your pretty Mum in that photo - she's full of love and happiness with her little one - I can see why you treasure this photo so much. We also have Mother's Day on the second week in May. The traditional Mother's Day flower is the carnation - is that the same in the States? PS: That tea cake is extremely good looking I've got to say. I bet it was delicious!
It's pretty the fresco foto
Such a sweet photo of your mom!
awe... your Mother must of had a special day. I tickles my heart they way you speak about her, smile...
The pretty cake does look too pretty to eat and I like the little one you chose I find it hard to go into a bakery without getting a little treat, smile!
That cake is so darling!
what a gorgeous photo of your mum.
yes, i always think it's a bit wrong to get a knife and slice it through a cake that looks like a cute face, or a baby animal or something!
Your blog is lovely, adore the lay out:)
The photo of your mom is precious. I'm sure she loved all of your beautiful gifts. :)
I love living in NY but I love LA. I love the consistently good whether and all the rock bars.
