Turkey Day

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Really excited about tomorrow, I love Thanksgiving. It truly marks the beginning of the winter holidays for me and also brings back great childhood memories. One of my best ones is that of waking up and seeing the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade on television and waiting for Santa to appear at the end. I loved the balloons too; it must be incredible to live in one of the apartments on the parade route and to see them float by your windows.

This Hello Kitty one was my favorite from last year’s parade…

(Hello Kitty photo found *here*)

Here is some old footage from a Thanksgiving Parade of yore with a bit of ‘the Munsters’:

This year we’re all getting together at my sister Anna’s house for dinner, she cooks a mean turkey and I’m the sous chef :)

The day after thanksgiving we’re going to go shopping, (‘Black Friday’ sounds really scary doesn’t it?) the goal is to find some cute galoshes! I’ll let you know how that goes…

(lovely rain boot photo is from Bethany Mae’s photography)

On a very important side note, the talented Mothersvea is having a Christmas Give-Away of her awesome work today and everyone’s encouraged to enter...I’m hoping for a Carneval print!

yes, galoshes are absolutely necessary. especially here where the weather is chaotic- one minute snow- the next rain...have a great black friday and enjoy your meal:)

I love those boots - polka dots are always so joyful they're a good antidote t the dreary rain...

(PS: I see you follow Chloe's blog; we have been best friends since high school!)

~thank you dear asherette, as you know it doesn't rain all that much here (few inches and they call it a 'flood watch') but because it's rare my feet aren't always prepared...also i plan to use them when i water my lawn and garden in the winter :)

~thank you dear castle... :) you should have seen the 6am black friday crowds, frightening!

~ when you visit los angeles i'll take you to a good turkey place dear chloé! :)

~i'd love to see the parade in person too dear michiko :) i have a good friend who grew up there but never saw it in person...he says that they were always too busy celebrating thanksgiving to go. shame isn't it? thank you for the good holiday wishes it was a nice day!
