The Various Things I Eat

Saturday, June 12, 2010

When I first saw artist Deth P. Sun's food journal blog post months ago I thought it not only funny and smart but also logical considering my own tendency to photograph what I eat. So as a fan of his new project you can probably imagine the extreme joy I felt the other day when Deth announced a zine he'd created with his food journal drawings (really wanted to see the food sketches up-close). The zine itself is only $5 and can be purchased *HERE*. Also be sure to visit his blog *HERE*, which he shares with artist Marci Washington. Post on it's making is exceedingly fun... gives insight on his spelling or misspelling of food names and to the items which he tired of drawing (like bananas, which I guess he eats almost daily?).

I looked up my Birthday (Nov. 20th) to see what he ate on the date.

Also, was curious as to what was on the menu for Christmas Eve and Day.

Art lovers looking to do some good in the world, be sure to visit TinyShowcase today. They're having a great sale this weekend on prints by artist Jen Corace. $15 from each 'Down, Down, Down' print sold will be donated to the Gulf Restoration Network.

this is PURE GENIUS!! I totally love it! lol I would have looked up what he ate on my birthday too. I think its a super great idea too for people who keep food journals, they can doodle their meals too!! I wish I could draw better lol! Thank you for sharing Gabbi! I hope all is going well for you and that you are having a nice weekend!!

i love this :) his drawings are so clean & crisp yet real. thanks for introducing his blog, i liked how he complained about how difficult it is to draw cornflakes & yet he had to draw so many of them because he ate a bowl everyday for a month; hilarious :P

What a great little book. Funny how fascinating these little glimpses of another person's life can be! I am also impressed with the dedication it takes to keep this kind of thing up!

How fun! I know I would be totally OCD reading it every day - "Oh, it's July 2nd! What did he eat?!"

That is a super cool idea and also probably very interesting I think! I tend to loose track of what exactly I've eaten during the day sometimes! Cute stuff! XOXO's
