'The measure of love is what one is willing to give up for it'

Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (1951)

Staring Ava Gardner and James Mason. Directed by Albert Lewin and shot by the legendary Jack Cardiff.

Don’t want to ruin the film for you if you haven’t seen it already so I won't give away anything more than what the title already tells you, but it really is one of my most loved films! The story is a little different, based on legend yet it's so fantastic in it's style that it feels almost modern. First introduced to me by my friend Billie with the following short (1 minute, 8 second) video, beginning has some Spanish dubbing but you can disregard, it ends in 6 seconds:

Isn't it charming?! This movie makes me wish there were more like it. It was filmed in Tossa de Mar.

James and Ava - I've not seen this beauty! Thank you! I'm always on the look out for terrific classics like this! ...and I love your faves - I love the way you put them together too - so pretty Gabbi!!P.S. My claim to fame, speaking of James, is that my mother and I saw him trying on shirts in a department store here in Sydney. My mother nearly fainted (she was a huge fan of his) but whispered to me "There's James Mason!" Of course being only about 5 at the time I yelled in a huge voice "Who's James Mason?" She nearly fainted then too!!

This looks like such a fun movie: handstands and dancing on the beach, beautiful and talented male and female leads, and those beautiful gowns and jewelry! Adding it to the Netflix queue. Lovely Etsy picks based on the theme!
