Minty

Few months ago I saw the yummiest recipe in Bust magazine for
Blackberry-Lavender Popsicles. I have tons of Lavender in my garden and
having never used it to cook with before I set out to give it a go:

The Bust recipe is available *HERE* and is shared by Lindsay Laricks of the famous Fresher than Fresh Snow Cones in Kansas City... but after trying the Lavender-Blackberry recipe (even though the pops were a hit with my sister Anna) I realized that they really weren’t for me. The lavender was a little too strong for my taste, even though the recipe only calls for 2 tablespoons of it. Most likely I'm just not used to it, but I loved the formula of fruit and flowers and that Lindsay gave away such an great idea to experiment with.

Using her recipe I decided to make my own version substituting Blackberries with White Nectarines and the Lavender with Mint. I was extremely happy with the way it turned out, including the color:

THINGS YOU’LL NEED
3 White Nectarines Chopped (not pealed)
1 Cup of Mint
1 Cup of Sugar
1 ½ Cups of Water
6 Tbsp. Fresh Lemon Juice
Popsicle Molds (ice cube trays,
disposable cups, or skinny highball
glasses can be used instead)

Wooden Popsicle sticks (plastic spoons,
swizzle sticks or chopsticks will also work)
.

DIRECTIONS
(1) Put nectarines, sugar, water and mint in a saucepan. Bring ingredients to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 8 minutes. (2) Mash ingredients with a potato masher (or fork) to extract most juice possible from nectarines. (3) Let cool about ½ hour in the refrigerator. (4) Remove from fridge and add lemon juice. Mix well. (5) Using a fine mesh strainer or sieve strain mixture into a large measuring cup (or something with a pour spout). (6) Pour mixture into Popsicle molds. (7) Cover with foil, then poke Popsicle sticks through to secure in place. (8) Freeze for approximately 4 hours. (9) Pop out of molds and enjoy!

While photographing my Jewel Pop inspired Popsicles I realized that now was a good time to show-off the Orient watch I won a few months ago through CC’s site Carrie Couture. If you happen to not be one of the 700+ readers that already follow the always inspiring Carrie Couture, be sure to swing by for a visit. Along with the latest in design she also has (as you can tell from my gorgeous watch) the most amazing giveaways… Thank you so much dear CC, I love love love my watch!! *Bises*

(Lastly, Jewel Pop molds are available *HERE* also visit Drollgirl *HERE* to learn how to make Mojito Pops!)

Love the Jewel Pops.

Ciao Bella makes a ...
Blackberry-Cabernet sorbet!

Maybe you can make that one next.

Gabbi! That looks like the most satisfying summer treat. I'm not too much of a fan of mint (except for gum and such) but those look so good. I can't wait to make them myself.

What a super funky idea Gabbi, funnily enough I was thinking why hasn't anyone made 'spicy' ice cream flavour yet - it would be worth a go the hot tingle, followed by a soothing coolness. Almost like chili chocolate bars- have you tried them yet - delish!

Those sound absolutely delicious. I kind of really want one now. Thanks for the idea!

Ooooh! I used to make similar popsicles in summer when I was little!! These look very pretty AND edible - what more could a gal ask for? ...as for that watch - wowsers! The gods were smiling upon you that day dear Gabbi! It's a cracker!

P.S. thank you for the shout out, too! you are so sweet and so cool! :)

Ooh, I might have to try this recipe! We have a mint plant that is somewhat neglected - I can never think of anything to use mint for! Speaking of odd frozen fruit concoctions, we've got some ginger melon sorbet in the freezer that no one wants to eat.. it's a little *too weird*. :)

I have never tasted lavender before, but this recipe sounds lovely. I especially like how you outfitted the popsicles to look like giant cocktail rings - just like Ring Pops! :)

Gorgeous watch, by the way! CC is the best! :)

Those popsicles look cute! I tried cooking with lavender for the first time recently by making some lavender shortbread. I only used the teeniest bit but it was so overpowering it gave me a headache! Pity. I think the 'idea' of using lavender in cooking is more appealing than the taste for me. It's something I really really want to like, but sadly I don't. Congrats on your lovely giveaway win!

Gosh this turned out to be a waffling ramble of a comment! :D

Yay! you like Gilmore Girls too :D
It's Season 1 Episode 3 "Kill Me Now", when Rory goes golfing with her Grandfather. I just saw it again this weekend :) So fun!

Great recipe - thanks for sharing! I think Lavender wouldn't be my thing either - a friend of mine used to be obsessed with those Violet candies (i.e. it's like you're eating a flower bouquet) and I just felt like I was chewing on perfume. Mint and nectarines sound wonderful though - I'll have to give this a go!

Lovely blog by the way :)

~ Thank you so much Teri! I’m going to have to track down Ciao Bella’s sorbet now… sounds delicious.♥

~ I swear that half the fun is making them… Thank you Crystal! :)

~ That’s a good idea Mondo! Something with ginger maybe? Though I have a hard time with spicy things (I’m a disgrace to my Mexican family). Hope you’re having a wonderful week. It’s good to have you back from your holidays! ♥

~ Thank you Kate♥ and Anna!!♥xo

~ You made these as a child Sam! I’m impressed!! My sis and I would try to make popsicles but they usually involved us freezing Kool-aid or soda… never turned out well :) That awesome watch was such luck Sam… and it’s a complete favorite of mine now. Thank you so much and hope you’re having a wonderful week!

~ You should try it dear Drollgirl and since you’re a much better cook than me maybe you can change the fruit and mint thing around! I’m thinking this recipe is pretty infinite in the combination department. Hope you’re having a lovely lovely week!!♥

~ You’d like it Rebecca… The sorbet sounds interesting, I love deserts made from real fruit! But yeah, I can see how the ginger would be too spicy maybe? My mom and sis love ginger candy and tea but I have a hard time with it. But it’s supposed to be great for you right?

~ I’m so flattered on the compliment to the photos Maddie, thank you so much! The serving is tiny on those pops so it kind of helps in that I seem to be eating less of them because of that, otherwise I’d devour more of them :)

~ Thank you dear FM♥ and Lady Thirty!♥xo

~ I love my gorgeous watch! Thank you again and again dearest CC… hope you’re having a lovely week♥xoxo

~ Thank you Café Fashionista (very much agree on CC)!

~ Thank you Maegan!!♥xo

~ I felt bad for not liking it too Cheryl… I’ve had lavender candy before I liked it, but maybe this was too fresh or something? Thank you…♥

~ Thank you dear Lenore and Christina!!xo♥xo

~ Me too Hanako :) I tend to make lots of tea with it and mojitos!

~ Thank you so much Keith♥ and Quixsa♥!!

~ Thank you June! Target should go global…George sends his love and is deeply flattered.♥xo

~ Thank you Annie, I love your blog also! Thank you so much for stopping by and for the awesome comment. Wishing you a lovely week.xo

~ Muchisimas Gracias Liz! I do love my watch… terribly lucky huh?♥xo

~ Thank you dear Erin♥ and Chelsea♥ and Natalie♥!!xxxo

~ Thank you Penny! Hope your sis likes them… :)

~ You’re so sweet Nina! Thank you… but I’m shy shy shy. One day soon… I’ll get drunk long enough to take them and post them maybe. The nail polish is ‘Brainiac’ by OPI. Thank you thank you… you’re such a great blog friend.♥xo

~ It’s nice to know I’m not the only one not loving the Lavender Tracy! :) and it made my headache too!! Too funny! Maybe we’re allergic?? And I honestly love rambling comments. Thank you so much, hope you’re having a wonderful week.♥

~ I know the candies and don’t mind them at all, but yeah they do have a perfume quality don’t they? :) Thank you Haute-Shopper! ♥ Hope you’re having a great week!

No, I didn't watch Felicity. I don't actually remember if our TV channels aired it :/
Haha, I started watching Heroes because of Milo Ventimiglia too! But I lost interest when I found out he broke up with Alexis Bledel :p Hehe, they used to be such a cute couple.
