‘Australian photographer Kate O’Brien’s photos are fantasy snow globes, arranged just so. Not a shiny curl out of place, not a flower askew, they’re bottled candy bliss. An avid collector, Kate finds inspiration everywhere. Online auctions, liquidators and op-shops are her hunting grounds when in search of the perfect piece to finalize her vision. Driven by a deep love of Victoriana and the macabre, Kate often spends years looking for weird and wonderful items to include in her photographs. O’Brien lives in Brisbane with her husband, two cats and five ducks. There she continues to immortalize an ever-growing assortment of muses, each image a sugar-dusted memento of an eerie world in a simpler time.’

I'm usually not into pictures that are so highly edited and pristine, but these are really nice. I love the concepts behind them.
I feel so silly for not having heard of Katie o'Brien before now as she resides in the same city as me and everything! And Brisbane is not a huge city! Thanks so much for sharing her amazing work. I'm going to explore those links! :)

I love your description of her. I have yet to try self portraits, or just portraits in general but she is a real inspiration.

I love these... they're slightly surreal but not in an overly bizarre way. I'm fascinated by her integration of the black gloves in the last two shots... such a contrast to the soft tones and romantic setting. Thanks for sharing these - I'll definitely check out more via the links you listed!
