Birds and Honey

Sunday, July 5, 2009

Do you know Sam of the world famous Matou en Peluche? She's one of my favorite people and an amazing artist. Several of her prints already hang in my bedroom but most recently I had the fortune of winning three more in a giveaway by Lilly's Life (very lucky!). My prize, 'Two Victorian Ladies have tea', now decorate my fireplace and keep my grandparents company. Aren't they lovely? I like the rather large bird on the right, I think he was probably the main subject of an obviously fascinating conversation. Wonder what kind of tea they were drinking?

The honey part: Have I told you lately how much I love the band Camera Obscura? I think I might've... :) This last month they released another video off their latest album 'My Maudlin Career'. The song is entited 'Honey In The Sun' and it has gorgeous lyrics. I'm a sucker for a good unrequited love song with a happy dancy beat.

Lastly, more birds... I recently found these little Japanese bird pins. There's three that I'm keeping and three that will be in my etsy shop sometime next week (as a set). Really lazy when it comes to putting things in there. I think it has to do with the writing of the description or maybe that it feels a bit too much like work. :) Do you have an etsy shop also... do you drag your feet about putting things in there too?

~ That’s so nice, thank you so much Nina! ♥ It’s actually a dress, I’m working my courage up for one of those outfit posts. I generally keep the camera pointed away from me most of the time. I love your new blogger meet post… hope you’ve had a lovely weekend!

~ And you have some gorgeous things too dear Spoonful… it’s sort of a hassle to post there isn’t it? Thank you and hope you have a wonderful new week.

~ Thank you Hanako…♥

It was so great to see some of Sam's work framed and displayed so beautifully. You have a real talent for display! Love that pic of the birdie brooches...and yes re the etsy thing I find it's the taking of pics that's the part that slows me down...but hey life's to be enjoyed so if I'm not in the mood I don't do it! will have to check out this band...

Those brooches are fantastic and I love the new illustration too.

Ah! Gabbi! You sweet heart! Blushes all round! I wish I lived closer to you as I'd love to take you out for a civilised afternoon tea or perhaps a sophisticated cocktail or perhaps you could show me your favouite parts of the Getty Museum - which you sort of already have here on your blog...but I like to see them again! Gee I sure would like that! I am just about to listen to the band with the very lovely name (Camera Obscura). Those birdies are darling!I trust you had a restful and relaxing 4th of July.

They're lovely! So breezy and up beat! The guitar sound I'm very fond of; it reminds me a little of Mazzy Star...and I forgot to say I love your new layout - very pretty and fresh! Sam XX.

gorgeous artwork!

I definitely know the pain of listing new Etsy items. Writing descriptions takes me forever! And before that, there's the picture taking and editing - something that also takes me longer than I'd like.
I think I go into listing moods, sometimes I'll be very productive and list every day for a week, but then I go through a whole month of nothingness (like lately... *sigh*)

those pins are adorable and yes, i'm a huge fan of sam's work. love the print where you placed it (and that vase is so sweet).

That print is just adorable! It looks like you have a lovely wall of photos and art there.

Those pins are cute too! I totally drag my feet about putting things in my Etsy shop... Some days it seems easy, but when I take the time to do it, I do often feel like it's too much work! Haha. :)

~ Thank you so much Keith! I’m really touched and honored… you’ve always been such a nice blog friend to me on here. It’s really appreciated I hope you know and your blogs are always fun to read, wishing you a great new week.xo

~ Sam is phenomenal isn’t she Chrisy? I’m always very much in awe of her work. Thank you for making me feel less alone with the etsy thing :) I actually love having the things I make up in there, but I don’t like the actual work of taking photos and describing and then setting prices? But yeah, it took me years and years to figure out that if there’s something I’m not in the mood for I just don’t do it. Hope your week has started out nicely! ♥

~ Thank you dearest CH!!xo♥xo

~ Sam, you must be the bestest museum partner ever! If ever in Los Angeles you must promise to go to at least one with me? :) Thank you so much for your wonderful giveaway, I love your work and it’s amazing to have it up on my wall. It’s very much a treasure. 4th was nice, hope you had a lovely weekend also. ♥♥♥ ps. Happy you liked the song!

~ Thank you Anna :) After I posted that I felt like a big dummy for complaining on here, I was just feeling really lazy with the heat and humidity, but now I feel better about it all. But yeah, its spurts of productivity, sort of glad I don’t rely on it for my income :) Hope you’re having a nice Monday and wishing you a lovely new week! *bises*

~ Thank you dear Fashion! I love your new Michael Jackson inspired fashion post… :) I had a Michael Jackson black & white shirt when I was a little girl that I absolutely adored. I remember secretly wishing I had the glove too.

~ Isn’t it amazing Mondo? It definitely belongs in a museum doesn’t it? I’m glad you liked Camera Obscura too! ♥ Hope you’re having a wonderful new week… :)

~ She is dear Miriam, as are you! Thank you so much and wishing you a lovely day too…xo♥xo

~ Thank you Christina! Sam has a huge following doesn’t she? Her work is lovely! Thank you so much, I love my vase. It was sort of forced on me by a friend at work who was selling ‘Princess House’ products but now I’m really glad I bought it. When I moved about three years ago it lost some petals but you can’t really tell. I’m surprised George hasn’t broken it yet either. He’s good at knocking things over with his fat butt.

~ Thank you Rebecca! I feel better about my lazy days now… hope your new week is going really well! ♥♥

~ Thank you Lilu and Fashion Moment! Wishing both of you girls a lovely new week…xo♥xo

the drink is called blue lagoon and it's perfect for hot summer nights..

thanks for the lovely comment..it's nice there aren't so many fashion bloggers in greece becauce we all can meet each other in person (you have to see how people on the street look a bunch of 12 girls..huhuhu)

on the pictures thing you should start by taking pics of yourself without showing your face directly to the camera..so you can take it step by step..but as i can judge from you layouts..i see a lot of style there(you're pics are going to look amaze=D)

I can totally understand why you're keeping the pins, they're adorable =)
Sam's art is great, isn't it? I'm so glad I discovered her!

I think it's a bit complicated to use etsy. Also most of my customers live in sweden and they don't use paypal, but they almost always clicked the "paypal" button and then I had to cancel the sale.
