I’m completely geeked out right now… today, when I went by for my weekly browse of the NPR Exclusive Listen page I discovered the posting of the Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse and David Lynch collaborative album ‘Dark Night Of The Soul’. The official site describes it as an album length piece of music by Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse and a host of guest vocalists (James Mercer of The Shins, The Flaming Lips, Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, Frank Black of the Pixies, Iggy Pop, Nina Persson of The Cardigans, Suzanne Vega, Vic Chesnutt, Scott Spillane of Neutral Milk Hotel and The Gerbils) along with a collection of original David Lynch photography inspired by and based on the music. ‘The photographs, which provide a visual narrative for the music, are compiled in a limited edition hand numbered 100+ page book which will now come with a blank recordable CD-R. All copies will be clearly labeled: ‘For Legal Reasons, enclosed CD-R Contains no music, Use as you will.’ I just bought mine today… (so excited, such a nerd) There's no word as to when the album will be released... apparently it's being blocked by EMI Records.

I’ve been listening all morning, it’s so good, not just a song but the entire album I’d say. Finally, here is a video of David Lynch delivering the weather report in Los Angeles, I used to love hearing him in the mornings on my once favorite radio station Indie 103.1…
